HEROIC lifeguards helped to stop a warped man abducting a baby from his mother's side, according to reports.

Police said the seven-week-old boy was lying on a towel at the beach when the man, 38, approached and tried to grab the child.
The mother pushed the man away as the pair were involved in a struggle before nearby lifeguards rushed to their aid, they added.
She is said to have suffered minor injuries following the incident at Sydney's Bronte Beach but did not seek medical treatment.
